Modi introduces new facility related to Ration Card

Before the deadline in March 2024, all districts in the rest of the nation will be covered. Sanjiv Chopra, the Union’s food secretary, provided this information.

By 2024, according to PM Modi’s declaration in 2021, fortified rice will be made available nationwide through government schemes. After this declaration, a plan to gradually distribute rice fortified with micronutrients was introduced in October 2021 to address the issue of anaemia among women and children.

According to Chopra, the distribution of fortified rice has been carried out satisfactorily throughout the previous two periods. The central government’s unique and highly effective approach, he said, has produced positive outcomes over the past two years. He claimed that this scheme will build the framework for a healthy India.

In 269 districts, he stated, the distribution of fortified rice through PDS (Ration Stores) has already begun. If things continue as they are, the remaining districts will be included in the plan before the deadline. According to him, there are around 735 districts in the nation, and in these districts, more than 80% of the people eat rice. Chopra added that the nation has adequate fortified rice because the country can currently produce roughly 17 lakh tonnes of this type of rice.
